Just writing to let you all know the latest happenings here in South Africa. Well first of all I just got back from a short vacation to Italy. Yes, it was great. I met up with 3 friends who are serving in other countries around the world, and we hit up Rome, Florence, Pisa and Venice. It was great to get away for a while and be with a few friends. And I got to see quite a bit of cool stuff. Anyway, if any of you are on Facebook, there are lots of pictures up of the trip. My blog has been giving me issues, so as soon as that gets fixed I will post pictures there as well.
I started back teaching yesterday, and all ready have a pretty full schedule of classes. I'm happy about that because I want have to do as much "hunting for work" type things. I'm going to be using a little bit of a new material this term. I'm using new testament bibles that have 40 lessons woven into them. Most all the lessons come back to the issue of Christ and purity. They are really cool bibles, and I'm hoping and praying that they will work well with the students here.
The weather here has begun to change. The nights are getting quite chilly! The days however are amazing! It warms up quite nicely here during the day. And the rain looks to be about finished here until October. It's weird, from like May to October it doesn't rain at all here, and you rarely even see a cloud.
I'm am still attending the small church plant in Bonita Park that I have written about. We have been averaging about 8 adults and 8 kids each Sunday. I usually have to give some sort of a lesson/sermon when I'm there. By the way I'm not really a preacher...so thats always a prayer request for me :) But please continue to lift up that church plant when you are praying for me. We also have a high school leadership weekend camp coming up in the middle of May. We are taking about 20 or so kids to a camp about an hour from here, and hopefully teaching them leadership principles and encouraging them to take a stand at their schools for Christ. While it seems everyone knows about Christ and most say they are Christians that you run into, it is rare to see people actually acting like Christ. Sometimes it feels like finding a young Christian who is living for Christ is like finding a needle in a hay stack. So you can begin to pray that this camp in May will be effective and touch lives, and that God will use me to reach some of these kids.
Well that's all for now. I hope you all are doing well. I'm really missing seeing people!!! so if you ever want to send me pictures or anything feel free :) Also. I will try and get pictures up soon. I can't do it from my computer for some reason, but hopefully, I will get to an internet cafe and add some for you all
