School has started!

Hello all! I have just finished my first week working at two high schools. It was a good week and a frustrating week all rolled into one. It is good to finally be working with the students and teaching the like skills material, but they can be kind of hard to keep behaved. A lot of these high schools here in my area, just don’t do to good of a job keeping their students under control. So a definite prayer request will be that I will be able to get through to the kids somewhat, and at the least the one’s who want to learn will not be distracted by the others. The kids do however like when I try to say some phrases in their language, they get a kick out of hearing my strange accent speak their language. Also pray for my spirits as I teach, I find myself getting discouraged when It seems like they could care less that I'm there. I had the opportunity to preach at a church here last Sunday. It went really well, It was a good experience for me. I also have been talking to an 18 year old boy that has been staying next to where I live. A couple nights ago I was able to lay out the whole plan of salvation with him. It was really awesome. He didn’t accept Christ that night, but it was great to see him process it all. He was struggling with how hard it would be for him to turn from his old ways. So he realized the cost of following Jesus. I really think he understood what I was telling him. I bough him a bible in his own language of Setwsana, and marked all the key salvation passages for him. I also showed him where the story of David and Goliath is. He had never heard the story before. The boys name was Christopher, and I don’t know if I will see him again, because he moved back to his own place, which is about a hour from me. I just thank God for giving me an opportunity to share with him, before he left. In two weekends we will be putting on a weekend camp for high school kids around this area, so if you are reading this you could pray for that as well. I hope you all are doing good back home, I miss you guys TONS...more then I thought I would. It gets tough here at times being kind of alone, and away from most of my team members. So a prayer concern that will be for the WHOLE time I am here is that God would just sustain and be my comfort in times of loneliness. .... I did however join a gym here and that has been a HUGE blessing, to be able to work out and kind of clear my mind at times. I love you all and appreciate all the prayer support you give; I wouldn't be here without you guys!!

Hey Paul,
I've been praying for you and am really proud of your work. Way to go, preaching, teaching, working out at the gym, and sharing the Good News. God has great plans for you there, even when it seems like the kids are restless. You have already gotten chances to share! Keep up the good fight, even when things seem slow or stressful! I look forward to hearing about more of your adventures! Talk to you later.
-Your friend,
Greg

Hey Paul:
I had lost your blogspot address, but got it back today from Marlene. She shared your prayer requests at our WMU meeting.
Anyway, just want you to know I am praying for you daily. In addition to my morning prayertime, I have your prayercard on my refrigerator door & breathe a prayer for you every time I see it.
Your animal pictures are awesome and your house looks homey!
So glad you've had some opportuinity to share the Gospel.
I know it can get discouraging and lonely at times. Just remember that God is with you all the time and that we, here at home, are praying daily for you.
Hang in there Paul and keep up the good work.

In Christ, Edna Speidel

Hey Paul!

It sounds like God is using you to do amazing things there!! I know it's easy to get discouraged, especially when you're feeling so alone, but just remember that our God is a big God and you've got all of us praying for you!! I hope your weekend is amazing and I can't wait to read the next entry of your adventures.

hey paul,
I just found your blogspot. I recently discovered this sight as well. I enjoy reading about what you are doing. I am sorry that you get lonely, that is not so fun. But sometimes that is when God wants you to listen the most, and lean on him to be your friend. I am glad you are learning and doing things to challege you too.

Paul -- thanks for sharing about Christopher. What an awesome opportunity to share with him.

I'll be praying for you about the loneliness issue. That's a real difficulty for single missionaries. I hope the gym membership will be both a place where you can work out some stress but an opportunity to meet some like-minded folks.
